A Thoughtful, Client-Centred Approach
Our counselling sessions are guided by your goals, experiences, and pace. We focus on creating a collaborative space where meaningful conversations lead to practical insight and lasting support.
Hi! I'm Mariah
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor. I am also a mother, wife, dog lover, gardener, and doughnut connoisseur.
The foundation of my therapeutic approach is relational, meaning that I value our connection. I aim to bring gentleness, moments of shared humour, and a spirit of collaboration to our work together, so you can feel grounded and supported as we navigate your experiences. I also draw on emotion focused and somatic practices. I may encourage you to notice emerging emotions, and how you experience them in your physical body. I believe through the acknowledgement of our emotions, we can re-connect with our own inner knowing and intuition.
I aim to offer a non-judgmental and inclusive space, and I welcome and affirm folks of all identities and backgrounds in my practice. I work with individuals across the lifespan, including children (3+), youth, and adults. I am especially passionate about supporting children as well as first responders. With children, I use a play-based and child-led approach and bring an awareness about the importance of connecting with caregivers throughout the process. As a first responder’s spouse, I have a personal understanding and connection to the unique first responder culture. It’s an honour to walk alongside first responders and their loved ones as they navigate the challenges of these roles.
Before entering the counselling field, I spent over 10 years working with individuals in many different roles —including youth crisis support, victim services, and mental health outreach. I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, as well as a Master of Educational Psychology from Simon Fraser University.
